Master the Business Side of Sport Management
Build a successful future in the sport industry through the fully online Master of Science in Sport Management program at Mount St. Mary’s University. The M.S. in Sport Management program is led by sport industry professionals through the prestigious Richard J. Bolte, Sr. School of Business. Graduates build a strong foundation of business skills that provide unique insight into the sport industry and allow for more career flexibility than education-focused MSSM programs. In addition to taking a few MBA courses, students can also earn post-baccalaureate certificates in Organizational Development and Project Management with the addition of just two classes per certificate.
About the Program
Mount St. Mary’s synchronous and asynchronous online Master of Science in Sport Management program is part of the Richard J. Bolte, Sr. School of Business. Program faculty connect you with experiential learning in small class sizes, while the Mount’s standing as a Division I school provides access to big opportunities. Plus, the Mount offers students a large amount of flexibility in choosing their required internship. Graduates pursue careers as agents, managers, media professionals, marketers, event coordinators, and more.

Just because your playing days may end after high school or college doesn’t mean you can’t make a significant impact in sport.
In the Mount’s sport management program, you’ll learn about organizational structures in sports, the economic impact of professional and intercollegiate sports in the U.S., and the diverse and expanding field of recreational sports. Major courses will also cover promotions, market research, sponsorship and fundraising in the industry. You’ll study sport marketing and communications, sport law and ethics in sport management, along with fundamental courses in management, finance, accounting and operations.
The sport management program provides internship and experiential learning opportunities – in fact, 100 percent of students participate in internships and have direct interaction with sports industry professionals both in and out of the classroom. The Mount’s location in the mid-Atlantic also offers opportunities for careers with professional, collegiate and other sport franchises after graduation.
You’ll also be able to develop relationships with our Division I athletics department, as well as the Mount’s Sport Management Advisory Board, consisting of sport professionals from around the region.
This experience can help you pursue a career as a sports agent, athletic director or game day operations manager, or work in sports media, sales or event promotion.
