Seattle University offers a masterís level sport management degree (Masterís in Sport Administration and Leadership - MSAL) and a joint JD/MSAL degree with the Law School. We provide an education that is both immediately applicable to sport management careers through internships, assistantships, and class projects. Our curriculum is leading-edge, driven by advances in theory across a wide variety of disciplines. Our program is designed to develop business analytical thinking and effective leadership. We provide an excellent and stimulating learning experience for future leaders in the sport management field. As a university that values intellectual skills fostered by the Jesuit tradition, our programs develop exceptional leaders who are values driven and committed to sustainable business practices.
Master's/JD - Joint degree with the Law School - Campus
Most students who do the joint degree between the MSAL program and the Law School are interested in being sport agents or compliance officers in the NCAA. There are other options though, such as in-house attorneys for sport organizations. Participants in the JD/MSAL Joint Degree Program must spend their first year in the School of Law. Once the student has completed the required first year courses in the School of Law, he or she may then take courses in both the JD and MSAL programs. The length of time required to complete the joint degree program is between 3 and 4 years for full-time students.

Master's Degree - MSAL - Campus
Seattle University's MSAL program has been among the top ranked programs in the world for the last 4 years. 90% of our students have jobs within six months of graduation and 40% have jobs before they finish their degree. 80-90% of our students are doing an assistantship (up to $16,000/year), internship, or working for a sport organization every quarter, including the first quarter on campus.

Caleb Janowski Youth Program Director - Youth Sports YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties
"MSAL provided me with the tools to approach any job with confidence. I was attracted to Seattle University by the connection to the athletic department in the graduate assistant role, and the additional course work in leadership. As far as I am concerned, without my master's degree from Seattle University, I would not be where I am."

Livia Mahaffie Assistant Cross Country/Track & Field Coach Loyola University New Orleans
"MSAL provided a solid foundation and the opportunity to network and cultivate professional relationships."

Kelsey Bumgarner Assistant Director of Donor Relations Whitworth University
"The MSAL program at Seattle U opened my eyes to the fullness that is the world of sports, including legal issues, ethics, business, marketing, economics, development, and more. It showed me what opportunities were available all the way from recreational to professional sports, provided a wide range of options when it came to practical experience, and gave me a wide network of athletics professionals to stay in touch with throughout my career."

Alli Young Director of Operations Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC)
"The MSAL program allowed me to work within a small cohort of graduate students. I was able to work closely with the MSAL program advisors and professors, and through their existing connections in the Seattle area I landed an internship during grad school through which I was ultimately hired as an employee."
